Sometimes you get signs along the way that the journey is heading on the right track. A couple of visits ago Mikey pulled out his laptop and played the opening to John Schlesinger’s 1961 film Terminus. It’s a lovely piece showing a day in the life of Waterloo Station at a time when people still wore bowler hats to work. As the camera gently pans across the roof of the station it pulls round to reveal not one but three hives on the roof of a nearby building. Cool as a cucumber, the beekeeper (dressed in his Sunday best) pulls a frame out and examines the bees. Genius. It’s not quite the Festival Hall roof, but it’s within shouting distance. We’ll try and find out more. In the meantime, take a look at the opening below or you can watch the whole film here.
